Tuesday 17th May 2016 Mainsforth v U18's

Willington took a strong side to Mainsforth on Tuesday Night. New signings Mitchell Chaurley and James Blackmore were making the league debuts for Willington having signed from Crook.

Mainsforth had a new look side after losing a number of players (due to age) from a fairly successful side last season. Willington won the toss and decided to bowl. All of the bowlers were economical and  a mention must be made for Michael Graham who managed to pick up two wickets. He is still very young and bowled well for the senior Academy side. Mainsforth were bowled out for 80.

Willington made light work in their reply and reached the score in the 13th over with Jamie Dass getting 34 not out. Jake Louth 30. Willington eventually  beating Mainsforth by 8 wickets.

A strong performance on a slow, low difficult wicket.

Bob Hay Memorial Cup

10th May 2016 Tudhoe v U18's

The first Under 18 game of the season saw Willington travel to Tudhoe in the first round of the Bob Hay Memorial Trophy.

It was an impressive start for the team dominating in all areas. Bowling first they kept the Tudhoe score to 56 bowling them out in 14.3 overs. All bowlers were economical sharing the wickets backed up by excellent fielding . Athena Fernyhough, James Blackmore, Isaac  Fernyhough and Jake Thompson each managed to bag a couple of wickets in their allotted overs.

The batting reply was equally impressive by the Willington side where both openers took only 6 overs to knock the score off. Positive and attacking batting by Jack Howell and James Blackmore saw the team romp home to a 10 wicket victory.

A great start to the season.
